eLearning AWARD 2021: Awards for AUDI AG and vitero GmbH

"Leading in the crisis and afterwards" – for this project, AUDI AG and vitero GmbH were awarded with the eLearning AWARD 2021 in the category "Synchronous Learning". The digital training format was jointly developed to train managers in the retail sector.

From face-to-face events to online training in a very short time: The year 2020 with the Corona crisis intensified the need at Audi for a further virtualisation of existing formats. The digital training courses should also be as close to reality as possible and maintain the interaction between trainer and learner as well as the interactions between the learners. The possibility to exchange and reflect were two essential requirements that could also be met virtually via vitero

With "Leading in the crisis and afterwards", a compact and exciting format has been created – with four live online trainings of 90 minutes each. The result is impressive: In a very short time, the training became an integral part of the training programme for managers in retail. In 2020 more than 900 specialists and managers successfully completed the training. The participants emphasise especially the entertaining character in their consistently positive feedback.

The project's success illustrates the potential of digital offers, says Heiko Schmidt, Head of Retailer Development / Training Germany: "Education is no longer location-bound. Education is a fluid process that can take place everywhere and at any time due to intermodal hybridisation, in other words: digital plus presence."

One year remote working with vitero

It is almost twelve months since corona completely changed our daily work routine. The switch to working from home was fortunately easy for us, the vitero team, as our virtual team room was already the established standard in our meeting and training culture. So the communication worked. The actual challenge was rather to keep the mood in the team high and to not neglect interpersonal tones.

What did we learn?

  • More frequent team meetings and plenaries strengthen the sense of unity.
    When working from home, you often feel like a lone fighter. This makes regular virtual team meetings even more important. In our experience, all hands meetings – with important information, team reports, etc. – via web conferencing help to keep the team spirit alive and to keep an overview of the entire company.
  • Interactions are virtually even more important.
    Common experiences connect and create cohesion. Whether it's brainstorming with a card query, project evaluation with points or even a mood assessment with a survey: working out and discussing results together makes meetings more lively and brings teams together.
  • Open rooms encourage informal exchange.
    The "chat in the coffee kitchen", which is so important for team spirit, happens automatically in the office. Virtually, this is more difficult. This is where virtual rooms show their full strength: you can use them directly at any time without booking and see who is talking next to you. In our vitero Café we also like to meet internally for a "quick chat" and spontaneously get into conversation.
  • Small gestures preserve friendship.
    Sometimes it's just little things that distinguish a good day from a bad one. Whether it's changing quotes on the lock screen (submitted by employees) or digital thank-you cards to colleagues: small, unifying elements are important for a positive mood in the team.
  • A look is sometimes worth a thousand words.
    Webcams used in a targeted way are a great thing – e.g. to virtually see colleagues live again after weeks at home.
  • A bit of reality is the salt in the virtual soup.
    For our virtual Christmas celebration, each employee received a package by post that had to be opened only during the celebration. Shared guessing about its content and shared anticipation bonds just as much as shared experiences. Creativity is called for here.

We are pleased that the mood in our team (according to our regular, internal, anonymous surveys) has remained consistently good or even improved slightly, depending on the aspect, even after almost a year of working remotely. We continue to work on keeping it that way.

Patented in the USA: Inspiring virtual environments

Creativity arises in a creative environment. For this reason, companies are creating more and more inspiring workplaces for their employees. Whether comfortable sofas for recreation, colourful rooms for brain­storming or table football in the corridor for letting off steam in between: The environment should create an optimal working atmosphere to encourage creativity and the innovative capability of employees.

If this approach succeeds in the real world – why not in virtual rooms as well? vitero inspire offers the optimal conditions to achieve this. In future, it will be possible to adapt the environment and even change it completely at the push of a button. Whether a different seating arrangement, a walk in the woods or a fireside chat for two, each environment inspires at a different emotional level. Concentration in a quiet room, recreation around a campfire, creativity at the waterfall, new perspectives in a circle of chairs – depending on the phase and goal of the virtual event.

The virtual advantage: In contrast to face-to-face events, the environment can be changed as often as required – for the entire group or just a part of it. You start a meeting with a video chat, go into the classroom setting for the collaborative phase, then take a walk in the woods in groups of two for new inspiration, and then present the results on the big stage in the auditorium.

The two patents also confirm vitero's innovative strength and sustainability: While one patent has already been granted in Germany, the idea of inspiring environments has recently been patented for the first time in the USA.

eLearning Award 2020: fischerwerke GmbH & Co. KG and vitero GmbH awarded

The jury of the eLearning Journal has decided. The eLearning Award 2020 in the web seminar category goes to the fischer group and vitero GmbH. The fischer group imparts technical knowledge as part of its product launch with the help of the virtual team room. The web seminars are designed to create a sustainable experience for the participants. For example, the loud and fibrous splintering of a wooden beam in the ceiling area of a low-energy house can be experienced with the help of vitero. Combined with a query and gamification tests at the end of the web seminar, sustainable learning is guaranteed.

Frank Neltner, head of the fischer academy, puts it into the following words: "Thanks to our unique way of implementing the web seminarin a fresh and interesting way, we have received a lot of praise from international as well as national colleagues".

With the help of the connector to the learning management system SAP Success Factors, vitero was able to make a significant contribution to reducing the administrative effort within the company. Ultimately, the expert jury was convinced by the new, fresh way of designing web seminars as spectacular events.

eLearning AWARD 2018: BSH and vitero win the category "Virtual Classroom"

The increase in efficiency of the blended learning concept convinced the jury of the eLearning Journal: vitero was awarded the eLearning AWARD 2018 for its application at BSH Hausgeräte GmbH in the category "Virtual Classroom". 
A special emphasis was given to the positive influence on the overall learning success. Participants busy themselves longer and more intensely with different topics in an overall shorter period of time. The integration of the virtual team room has paid off many times for BSH, since trainings can be carried out irrespectively of time and place. Europe’s market leader has thus been able to complement its blended learning concept efficiently and prepare for the further dynamic growth of the company.

The Lufthansa Group won the eLearning Award in the category “Virtual Classroom” for using vitero in their worldwide employee training and the virtual general meetings. The prize was awarded after a project presentation at didacta (see video here). The eLearning Journal justified this choice with synergy effects that the company achieved through the use of the virtual classroom vitero in various areas of the group, as well as the ergonomic surface.

This contributes to the intuitive use of the software, which can be managed “without many words” – especially in the international use a substantial advantage. Our case study shows how Lufthansa successfully conducts online trainings on a global scale.

This year, vitero customers were once again among the lucky winners of the award, which is conferred annually by a specialist jury to the users.

vitero cooperation with Blended Communication

The Dutch expert for collaboration and communication, Blended Communication, has acquired the exclusive rights to distribute vitero within Benelux countries.
vitero is thus integrated in the versatile software offer of Blended Communication, which the company offers in addition to consultation services, technical support and trainings.

Blended Communication not only deals with the technology, but also consults regarding linking and proper online / offline usage of the tools.
Starting points are the user, business processes and communication.
Blended Communication is, based on the experience and expert knowledge, the ideal interface between the needs of customers and users, the available technology and the enterprise architecture.
By selecting suitable IT resources and solutions, a more efficient communication and thus more efficient work is enabled.

Customers, partners and end users profit from this deal: vitero expands its distribution network with a competent partner in the Benelux region and Blended Communication expands its range of services with the virtual classroom and web conferencing tool vitero.
A Dutch website (www.vitero.nl) as well as Dutch support and training services are now available for customers and users.
These are carried out by Blended Communications in Almere – from Dutch native speakers.
The sales in the Benelux countries are also handled via Blended Communication, so an additional, competent contact is available for prospective customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg.

The product range includes a large part of the German mother house’s offer: all interface modules as well as various trainings and other services are also offered by the Dutch representation of vitero.

Model Project “Learning German in the virtual Classroom“ has started

In addition to vitero as technical service provider and consultant, the Institut für Berufliche Bildung (IBB AG) and the Landesverband Baden-Württemberg im Deutschen Bibliotheksverband e. V. are also involved in the model project. The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports Baden-Württemberg.
The aim is to offer live online German classes to refugees in Baden-Württemberg quickly and unbureaucratically, so that the integration in the job market is accelerated. Even with a good education, many refugees in Southern Germany have a hard time finding a job. A common reason for this is the language. Refugees often have to wait several months, especially in small towns, to be included in an integration course. This shows how sensible a prompt language course, instructed by a competent lecturer, is – this is where the model project is put on.
As refugees often do not have the necessary hardware and infrastructure, seven city libraries have been taken on board. Participants can attend the German courses from the workplaces of the libraries, supported by an accompanying person specially trained in vitero
Beginning in the middle of November, the first German courses for refugees start in three one-month courses. A total of around 50 persons will be trained until the beginning of March. A nice side effect is that “incidentally” media competences are passed by the use of vitero and computers and the refugees get in touch with the locals. The project is also characterized by its great potential to be sustainable, because in the case of success, the concept can very easily be adapted to other target groups with different focus topics.
